The Fallout franchise took us to various locations throughout its rich history, from the West Coast, Washington DC, Boston and various other cities and regions, Fallout certainly had plenty of diverse settings.
However, the game never really ventured outside of the US, despite the interest from fans to see other parts of the world in this popular post-apocalyptic universe.
Some fans even took it upon themselves to create a game-sized Fallout 4 mod set in London. That's how eager Fallout fans are to see their favourite game somewhere that isn't the US.
In a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games, Bethesda boss Todd Howard offered his thoughts on the potential Fallout game in Europe. When asked by the show host if there are some locations outside of the US that Bethesda would like to explore in future Fallout games, Howard replied that Bethesda's primary goal is to stay in the US.
"For us right now, it's ok to acknowledge some of these other areas but our plan is to predominantly keep it in the US," Howard said.
He explained that Bethesda want to keep some of those areas mysterious and leave it to the players to think about what happened there.
"I don't feel the need to answer, it's ok to leave mystery or question, 'what is happening here?'," he said. "The worst thing you can do to a mysterious land is remove the mysterious story."
This will certainly come as a major disappointment to many Fallout fans outside of the US but we have to say that it makes sense to keep the franchise in the US, a country that Bethesda Game Studios probably know better than some other regions like Europe and Asia.
Howard did say that the studio have some external Fallout projects in the works so it's always possible that at some point in the future, a different studio pitches a Fallout game set outside of the US.
