Every so often, Riot Games try to battle toxicity in League of Legends, by adding new options to the game, or removing old ones. It rarely works, if at all.
The last time they tried to do this, was a year ago, in October 2021, when they tried to remove all chat from the PC version of League of Legends.
Due to a large pushback from the community, at the end of the day, all chat remained part of League of Legends. However, in patch 3.5, Riot Games are removing all chat from League of Legends: Wild Rift.
"All Chat will be removed from all game modes starting this patch. There won’t be any changes made to team or party chat though," is all we got for an announcement before it happens.
Now comes the speculation. Seeing that the removal of all chat in League of Legends failed because players argued, correctly might we add, that the toxicity doesn't come from the all chat, but rather your own team, removing all chat is redundant.
Besides, just how bad of an issue is it, when the chat is not as prominent in Wild Rift as it is in PC League of Legends? After all, the game is far younger, and is there nothing RIot can try and do to stop the spread of toxicity, before resorting to such drastic measures?
