Riot Games has officially revealed Locke, the Ashen Exorcist. Here's everything we know about his abilities, playstyle, release date, and upcoming High Noon skin.

League of Legends’ newest champion looks to be the demon-slaying assassin Locke. He is set to release later this month sporting demonic-infused lore and abilities centered around pick potential and explosive damage, Riot explains.

Positioned as a hyper-lethal assassin that punishes reckless playstyles, Locke will force players to sit back and wait for perfect setups before diving into a foe. Each of Locke’s abilities allow him to mark targets with Soul Nails that he can detonate for large amounts of bonus magic damage.

This playstyle is further supported by his passive ability, Silver Stake, which deals bonus magic damage that scales based on a target’s maximum health.

Locke's abilities explained

His Q ability, Ritual Nails, marks targeted enemies while slowly rooting them. His W, Soul Ignition, deals damage to himself in exchange for movement speed. Damage dealt by Soul Ignition can be reclaimed when standing still.

Finally, his E ability, Ashen Pursuit, allows Locke to blink forward and dash towards the nearest enemy. As mentioned before, Locke’s kit shines with his ultimate ability, Purgatory.

Casting it fires a binding artifact onto the ground that marks enemies who pass over it. Champions that pass over the artifact and who dip below a certain health percentage can be executed. Successfully executing on champions increases the ability’s health percentage, allowing Locke to one-shot champions that are even low-health.

Story-wise, Locke has deep connections to the ever-growing narrative that is currently developing in League of Legends 2026. The newest Cinematic short bridged Locke into connection with Vayne’s storyline, setting up what looks to be an incoming event full of demonic possession.

Luckily for players intrigued by Locke’s new kit or backstory, won’t have to wait too long to give him a try. He is currently expected to release on Patch 26.13, along with a brand-new High Noon skin, on June 24, 2026.
