League fans have been up in arms recently over a new change to minion aggro introduced in patch 26.10. Meant to streamline interactions in lane, the update has many players thinking otherwise.
Developer Riot described the changes as a “simple QoL change”, but many, specifically Heimer fans, feel they pose a great problem for the champion.
The problem players are having is that minions can attack Heimerdinger’s turrets while staying out of turret range. Social media and the League of Legends community alike have been flooded with comments about the patch.
Why Heimerdinger Players Are Frustrated
Minion aggro was exploitable before 26.10 so players were able to wave clear into turret range safely. Heimer can last hit while his turrets sit under turret without fear of retaliation.
After this change happened minions will not target the champion when they attack minions. What ends up happening is the enemy minion will sometimes kill Heimerdinger’s turret without trading shots with his turret first. This isn’t a game changing thing for most champions. However, turret range is Heimerdinger’s whole kit.
He relies on them for wave clear, zoning, poking, and sitting defensively. If his turrets can not be reliably harassed by minions then he literally does nothing in lane.
Players were so mad that riot is apparently listening in 26.11. Heimer’s turrets are getting range and vision buffs in 26.11. This lets us know they know something about that aggro change was wrong.
We will see if these buffs are enough but Heimer mains will gladly take what they can get right now. As of now a lot of mains believe he is playing significantly weaker than he should be because of the lane change.
