When it appeared that Jankos would not be able to escape from G2's contact jail, Heretics stepped in to save the day. According to LEC Wooloo, Heretics and G2 agreed on a €100,000 buyout, completing their 2023 LEC lineup.
The fact that this is most likely the final move of this year's LEC offseason adds to the irony. G2 reportedly slapped a €1 million price tag on Jankos at the outset of the offseason, making him nearly impossible to acquire. Despite the intrigue, no one could afford to sign the Polish star due to tight finances across the board.
Here is the Team Heretics full roster for the upcoming League of Legends Esports season:
- Top: Evi
- Jungle: Jankos
- Mid: Ruby
- AD Carry: Jackspektra
- Support: Mersa
Throughout his career, Jankos has set the benchmark for European junglers. With him being the first EU jungler to win an international title in contemporary League of Legends (MSI 2019), he was bound to be a hotly discussed LEC option after being benched by G2.
Because of his contract clauses, Jankos almost turned to be a full-time Twitch streamer.
Jankos will need to find a method to collaborate with a Japanese top laner and a Korean mid laner. Furthermore, creating synergy will be critical if the Heretics are to find LEC success next year.
