Immortals: Fenyx Rising, or the game formerly known as Gods & Monsters, should be getting an official reveal soon. Unofficially, though, the release date has leaked already.
The leak is of the pretty-reliable variety as it came from a Microsoft Store listing. While the page has since been removed, it was caught by the quick and eagle-eyed fans, so we know the launch date is December 3, 2020.
We should be learning more in the company's next Ubisoft Foward stream, which is scheduled for next week.
Thanks to the Taiwan Ratings Board, we've learned about the name change from Gods & Monsters to Immortals: Fenyx Rising earlier than the company intended. The game launches for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
Since the protagonist is named Fenyx, there's very little doubt this is the same game we're talking about. Ubisoft themselves said that they changed the name and will have more info in the summer, so yeah, it's as solid as it gets.
Now, depending on whet you got onboard the fan-train, you might come across a markedly different experience. Ubisoft told Eurogamer that the game has evolved in "surprising ways" in the process of development, which they claim is often the case when developing new worlds.
They also said that a lot has changed since the demo at E3 2019, so the name is technically the latest of many.
Ubisoft reportedly shook up just about everything in Immortals: Fenyx Rising, features, general tone, art design, characters and obviously the name. It certainly sounds like the dev is mighty pleased with whatever evolved in their lab, so bring on next week's Ubisoft Forward episode.
