Helldivers 2 has received a consistent stream of new content since launch, and it doesn’t look like Arrowhead Game Studios will be cutting back any time soon. The “Battle of Super Earth” was the massive arc that followed the Omens of Tyranny update, which introduced the formidable Illuminate as a new enemy faction for players to take on.
Helldivers 2 is constantly adding new content for the Galactic War, but what’s next for the Illuminate? According to the developer, plenty of content is still to come-not just for the factions, but for the Galactic War as a whole.
The Illuminate were first added to Helldivers 2 in the Omens of Tyranny update, and they were an intimidating new faction to deal with on the battlefield. With advanced technology as weapons, as well as a few manipulation-based powers, the Illuminate were unlike any enemy players had previously fought in the game.
After a complete arc with some of the biggest, baddest badsasses the galaxy has to offer, many players thought the Illuminate story might be done. However, Arrowhead has just teased even more content for the faction via a short and direct message from its community manager. In response to a series of questions about future Illuminate content on the official Discord, Arrowhead stated “we’re not done there.”
The post perfectly matches other recent leaks that hint at new enemy types, which has been a big point of discussion in the Helldivers 2 community. There are whispers of a teleporting sniper-assassin type and a laser-shooting alien that looks like the Watcher, among others.
These enemies would certainly add another layer of difficulty, something that Arrowhead is keen to do. The studio said the game was too easy in a recent dev update, and it’s been taking community feedback into consideration to ramp up the difficulty.
Enemy types is only one part of the Galactic War, though, and the studio said that this aspect of Helldivers 2 will be expanding as well, which would mean new narrative elements to tell more stories and add even more variety to the game.
Helldivers 2 Release On Xbox Series X/S Coming Next Month
In other big Helldivers 2 news, the studio announced on the Xbox Wire that it would be launching on the Xbox Series X/S on August 26.
The cross-play expansion will add another huge set of players to the Helldivers 2 community, and with even more Illuminate content coming, there will be no shortage of action when it comes to the Galactic War.
