Helldivers 2 got its largest update yet with Machinery of Oppression, and it finally brings back the series’ fan-favorite villains, the Cyborg Legion. They teased their return back in Helldivers 2’s previous trailer, but Arrowhead has now detailed how this menace changes the galactic conflict.
Machinery of Oppression thrusts players into much more perilous territory when it comes to enemy design and mission frameworks. Cyberstan isn’t a playground, and fighting for your life has never been more important.
New objectives, vicious foes and a worldwide mechanic monitoring every soldier killed raises the stakes for everyone in Machinery of Oppression.
A New Front Opens on Cyberstan
A New Front Opens on Cyberstan brings you headlong into the heart of Cyberstan. Cyberstan is a nation ruled by Automatons, having fallen into their hands when they captured the schematics to the Star of Peace.
Now Helldivers are assaulting enormous factory cities filled to the brim with massive industrial constructs at every turn. The first main mission objectives send you out to hamper Cyborg production while crippling Automaton defenses. Monumental factory buildings become objectives themselves as you destroy monuments built to war criminals and terrorists.
Three New Cyborg Enemies Join the Fight
Cyborg Legion doesn’t pull their attack helicopters out quietly. Our biggest content update to-date adds three new enemy types that squad’s will have to learn to deal with.
Agitators
- Mechastically-enhanced commanders. They are heavily armoured and work to coordinate Automaton forces on the battlefield.
Cyborg Radicals
- Smaller, light-based cyborgs that excel at close-quarters combat by rushing players at high speeds.
Vox Engine
- A large war machine wielded by a cyborg commander. They pack lasers, rockets and weapons with rapid-fire capabilities.
Each enemy will require new positioning and tight teamwork to overcome, especially when fighting in close quarters within Cyberstan’s factory cities.
