Just a couple of months after the release of Gothic Playable Teaser, THQ Nordic have officially confirmed that Gothic Remake is set to enter full production. The game is announced for PC and next-gen consoles and will not launch in 2020.
THQ Nordic have officially announced Gothic Remake for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The game will enter full production just two months after the company initially released the playable teaser for the game that, to see if players would be interested to play Gothic in this enhanced version.
THQ Nordic confirmed that they will establish a new Barcelona studio, which will soon start the full production on a Gothic Remake title for "next-gen consoles".
As for the release date, the company did not announce anything specific but have made it clear that the game will not be coming in 2020, which was somewhat expected. THQ Nordic will soon asses all the feedback that has been received in the last two months. The studio revealed that over 180.000 players played Gothic Playable teaser and the majority of them were in favour of remaking the iconic RPG.
THQ Nordic say they will try to stay close to the original material as faithfully as possible with modern graphics and gameplay mechanics. "We are up for the challenge to develop a full Gothic remake which will stay as faithfully as possible to the original experience and transport the atmospheric world of Gothic into a high-quality look and carefully modernizing certain gameplay mechanics," THQ Nordic's Reinhard Pollice explained.
The original Gothic game released way back in 2001. It was praised for its visual fidelity and story but criticised for high system requirements. Check out how the two versions of the game compare in the video here .
