Ghost of Yōtei is officially coming to PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025, Sony confirmed today with a stunning new trailer, which kinda arrived out of nowhere.
The samurai action adventure, which was initially announced last year, was always targeting the 2025 release date but Sony have now narrowed it down to October, suggesting that they are fairly confident this one won't get delayed into 2026.
The trailer is absolutely breathtaking, as expected, and shows some of the new locations, but the main spotlight seems to be on a group of antagonists that our character Atsu will be hunting down after they slaughtered their entire family.
It's another revenge story, and we've got some of that in the recent Assassin's Creed Shadows, so Ghost of Yōtei may end up feeling a tad too familiar for my liking, but we'll see.
OFFICIAL Ghost of Yōtei DESCRIPTION
"Set 300 years after the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei is standalone experience set in 1600s rural Japan. The story follows a haunted, lone mercenary named Atsu. Thirsty for revenge, she travels through the beautiful, rugged landscapes of northern Japan, hunting those who killed her family many years earlier."
