Remember Abandoned? A survival horror that was announced as a major PlayStation 5 exclusive for 2021 on Sony's blog by Hasan Kahraman, the Director of Blue Box Game Studios based in the Netherlands.
If the name rings a bell, you probably know about the controversy that followed this title which never actually released and probably never existed in the first place. The host of Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley also seems to think that the whole Abandoned story was fishy.
In a recent Twitch Q and A, Keighley was asked if he ever passed on revealing a game because he believed it wasn't real, to which, Keighly namedropped Abandoned. Keighley revealed that Hasan Kahraman pitched the game reveal to him but he decided against showing it as thought the game was not real.
"Yeah, remember that Abandoned game that everyone thought Kojima was involved in? I kept getting pitched that by the developers to do something on it, and I just never felt like it was a real game," Keighley said.
Kegihly added that he's not even sure what happened to Abandoned and to be frank, we doubt anyone knows. Blue Box Studios just stopped sharing new information and went dark so over a year ago when they announced that Abandoned has been delayed indefinitely.
It would certainly be interesting if this one surfaced again at some point in the future but we suggest you don't get your hopes up again for Abandoned, at least until we see some solid gameplay and proof that there is a game there.
