Exactly seven days have passed since Gears 5 hit the shelves and The Coalition have plenty to be stoked about. Their game has passed 3 million players and boasts the title of the biggest Xbox Game Studios launch week in this generation.
The current plan is to keep Tuesdays for Gears 5 updates, so the fans can look forward to a weekly cadence of new featured hives, leaderboard rewards and any other content The Coalition in store.
As promised, the dev added Dave Bautista, perhaps better known as The Animal or simply Batista, as a playable character and should you jump into Gears 5 before 28 October 2019, you're getting him for free.
In order to play as The Animal, head over to 'Customization' and you'll find him under the Marcus Character. No worries - this is no mere skin, as The Coalition made sure Batista recorded more than 700 lines exclusively for Gears 5, and he's in multiplayer too.
"Adding Batista to Gears 5, we started with the fantasy of 'Batista as Marcus', putting Batista into Marcus and starting with Marcus' script. Then we added elements of "The Animal" Batista into his performance and onto his look by adding his signature Hollywood shades to his character", said the studio head Rod Fergusson.
As for the game itself, Gears 5 is past the 3 million player mark and has become the best most-played Xbox Game Studios title since 2012's Halo 4. Of course, being part of the Xbox Game Pass offer with the headcount.
"On the PC, Gears 5 has nearly tripled the performance of its predecessor, becoming the biggest-ever launch for Xbox Game Pass for PC, and Xbox Game Studios' best-ever debut on Steam", Microsoft said.
Thanks to Supply Content Drops, Gears 5 will let players earn free content from the Supply Pool every time they fill their Supply meter, and that's just by playing the game. The first batch contains seven new cards, with plenty more on the way.
