Gears 5 developers The Coalition have detailed the game's map builder in the latest video. The map builder feature will allow players to create their own corners and corridors for the brand new, 3-player co-op mode named The Escape.
We're only a couple of weeks away from the fifth major instalment in the Gears of War series - Gears 5. Recently, the game has officially gone gold and is ready to ship so the developers and the publisher Microsoft have started to showcase some of Gears 5's features that we didn't get to see before.
One of these features is a massive map builder, which The Coalition detailed in the latest video on their YouTube channel. Gears 5 map builder will allow players to create their own, unique maps for one of the game's modes named The Escape.
The Escape is a 3-player co-op mode in which players invade a swarm hive and have to destroy it from within. Now, the mode has almost endless potential with the map builder which allows you to add various types of enemies like Grenadiers, Juvies and also Elite versions of these and other monsters.
You can also set the number of enemies which will appear on the map along with various combos. In short, the map builder lets you customise almost every aspect of the brand new mode.
Furthermore, you can add resources like ammo and weapons on different locations across the map and set venomous thread options such as detonation delay, spread speed and damage multiplier.
The video also shows a ton of tiles that you can use to create your unique maps. You'll get to choose from ramps, shafts, hallways, rooms, helipads and more.
Once you finish up the map, you can share it with your friends or online for other players to see it, rate it and of course, play it.
All in all, the map builder looks like a great feature that packs a ton of options and tweaks that could make The Escape one of the most popular modes in Gears 5.
