Turn 10 Studios are making some major changes to the car progression mechanic in Forza Motorsport to allow players the freedom to equip the parts they want regardless of car level.

Forza Motorsport launch probably did not go as well as Xbox and developer Turn 10 Studios hoped it would. While this simcade received positive reviews from the media, scoring 84 out of 100 on OpenCritic, fans were not impressed.

The game's car leveling system in particular was one of the key talking points among the community, who made it pretty clear that this new mechanic does not belong in Forza Motorsport.

A while back, Turn 10 announced they will be reworking the system in future updates and today, the team shared more details on what changes can players expect to see soon.

The biggest change is the removal of the locked parts mechanics so players can access all car parts at car level 1 for every single car in the game. Basically, once you add a car to your collection, you can install upgrades in any order you desire. You'll be able to add any type of tyre, body kit, swap engines and more parts that are currently locked behind a high car level.

Obviously, you'll still need to spend Car Points on these parts and there are some notable changes here too. In addition to earning car points through levelling up the car, players will also be able to spend in-game credits to acquire Car Points.

Turn 10 say they are testing a ratio of 4,500 Credits for 500 Car Points and based on the player feedback so far, they believe this to be a healthy balance. As an example, upgrading the Volkswagen Golf R 2021 from level one with all available parts will cost you 89,775 Credits.

The Forza Motorsport community seems to be happy with these changes, calling it a step in the right direction. The update featuring these changes will be available with Update 6 in March 2024. The exact date will be shared closer to availability.
