EVO 2026 is underway in Las Vegas, running from today, 26 June, through to 28 June at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The event's first day is dedicated largely to its Showcase programme, which kicked off at 10:00 AM Pacific Time on Twitch and YouTube and features panels and announcements from most of the major fighting game franchises currently active.
Dead or Alive is among the first games on the schedule, with producer Yosuke Hayashi taking the stage following a four-player exhibition to address the future of the series. This is the first major public comment on what comes next for the franchise since Dead Or Alive 6 Last Round launched just two days ago on 24 June, and the community has been watching closely for any indication of whether a proper Dead Or Alive 7 is in active development. Koei Tecmo has also teased a new fighter named Minato at a separate DOA panel today, suggesting the studio is still actively supporting and expanding its roster even as it hints at longer-term plans.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is also on the showcase floor ahead of its 6 August launch, with a pre-release tournament running at the Evo Showcase Stage. Magneto, Green Goblin, and Carnage were all confirmed as new characters for the game at Sony's State of Play earlier this month, and the Evo showing is the community's first chance to see them in a competitive context before the game goes on sale.
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game has one of the more substantial slots on today's schedule, with its panel at 7:00 PM Pacific promising the reveal of the game's first DLC character alongside vote candidates for a second. The game launches 23 July, giving the panel immediate relevance for anyone deciding whether to pre-order. Further reveals from 2XKO, Under Night In-Birth 2, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, and Rivals of Aether 2 are also scheduled across the day, with the bigger competitive finals and additional announcements expected on Saturday and Sunday.
