Today's update for Fortnite is a bit bigger than usual but the overall result should be reduced file size of the game on PC. After the patch is successfully installed, your game should take up around 26.5 GB, which is more than 60 GB less.
If you are regularly enjoying Fortnite but fear that some upcoming updates for the game will make your HDD partition sweat, fear not, Epic Games have implemented a great solution to trim the game's file size. In today's update for Fortnite, which is a bit larger than usual, Epic Games will reduce the size of the game to 26.5 GB, which is certainly a massive decrease.
Before the update, Fortnite took up around 90 GB of your storage space which is quite a lot, not as big as mammoth Call of Duty: Modern Warfare though, but still pretty big. After you successfully install today's update, the game should be 26.5 GB, which is a massive decrease in file size, more than 60 GB.
Epic Games say that today's update will also mean smaller download for future patches and improved loading performance, which is always a nice addition.
Fortnite fans, especially those with smaller HDD will certainly appreciate today's update and it remains to be seen if similar patch also arrives to consoles and mobile. At the moment, it is only available to PC players but it would not be surprising if Fortnite's file size also shrunk on PS4, Xbox One, Switch and mobile.
