A classic tactical RPG is coming back to us in a new package, and it won’t be limited to just Nintendo Switch. Front Mission 3 Remake is coming to PlayStation and Xbox consoles and PC as well.
Originally released for the Switch this year, the remake will get a multi-platform release on January 30, 2026. The publisher, Forever Entertainment, also said that a playable demo is already available for all platforms.
Split into two story routes determined by the player
Front Mission 3 is most well-known for its unique branching structure. After selecting a path early in the game, the routes change how certain characters are depicted, alter events, and shift the narrative perspective.
Highlights of the story:
- Two complete storylines with different allies and objectives
- Emphasis on politics, corporate influence, and military justice
- Motifs of loyalty, family, and transhumanist technology
- Routes later converge into a larger conspiracy, rewarding players who replay to see both side
Major changes in the remake
The gameplay is generally faithful to the original, with the remake introducing a number of quality of life and presentation enhancements. Major additions and improvements:
- Remastered graphics and enhanced animations
- Remixed soundtrack inspired by the original
- New Wanzer camouflage customisation
- Combat speed-up mode for quicker battles
These changes bring the experience more in line with modern standards without sacrificing what made the original special.
