Elden Ring is proving to be the thorn in the side of everyone who claimed single-player games are not the future.
EA and their infamous tweet about single-player games just keep ageing like fine milk, with Elden Ring acting as the latest hole in their theory.
From Software 's RPG won a slew of awards for a good reason and the fact that it is still selling like hotcakes on Steam almost a year after release testifies those accolades weren't for nought.
According to SteamDB's data, the game ended up being the best-selling title in the first week of 2023, ahead of the multiplayer behemoth, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 .
Still, the acclaimed game didn't manage to be #1 on the list as that honour went to Steam Deck and since we are talking about a handheld PC that is highly accessible, no one can really fault it.
The top ten best earners of the week are as follows:
- Steam Deck
- Elden Ring
- CoD: MW2
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Ready or Not
- FIFA 23
- God of War
- Project Zomboid
Considering the number of singleplayer titles on the list, it's hard to claim nonsense like they are going to fade away in favour of multiplayer ones, despite what corporations might want you to think.
