Creative Assembly announced the second expansion for their Total War: Three Kingdoms. Named Eight Princes, the DLC is set to release on 08 August 2019. It will add eight new factions, standalone campaign, new units and gameplay mechanics.
Turned-based strategy Total War: Three Kingdoms is set to receive the second piece of post-launch content updates it's been officially announced by the developer Creative Assembly.
The second major expansion for Three Kingdoms is named Eight Princes and it's set to launch on 08 August 2019 on Steam. The expansion is set 100 years after the events in Three Kingdoms and features a brand new cast of playable factions led by the foremost princes of the Jin dynasty.
These Eight Princes will offer different campaign mechanics, and according to Creative Assembly, each of them will offer "unique and fascinating" playstyles. As for the campaign, each of the eight princes will look to take control of the Jin Empire for themselves. Here is the official description:
"After the establishment of the Jin dynasty in 266 CE by Sima Yi’s descendants, the passing of Emperor Wu – formerly Sima Yan – and the incapability of his heir and the new emperor Sima Zhong – now Emperor Hui – has plunged the Sima family into civil war as the princes chosen by the kingdom’s late ruler vie for control."
The expansion will also introduce new units, but more details on those will be released one week before the launch. Also, Creative Assembly confirmed that some free content will be released alongside the DLC. However, free-LC, how the devs call it, will also be detailed one week before launch.
For those who decide to pre-order the DLC, there is a 10 per cent discount on the current price, which is set 8,99 €.
Total War: Three Kingdoms previously got two paid DLCs - Yellow Turban Rebellion and Reign of Blood. The latter is simply adds blood and gore effects while the Yellow Turban Rebellion introduced new playable Warlords, hero classes and a brand new sub-culture.
