It's been long rumoured that EA have a Black Panther game in development and thankfully, now it's official. Today, EA have formally revealed that a third-person single-player Black Panther game is currently in development at a new, Seattle-based studio called Cliffhanger Games.
Cliffhanger Games is led by Kevin Stephens, a former VP of Monolith Productions, the developers of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor among other titles. The rest of the team is made of veterans who worked on titles like Halo Infinite, God of War series and more. Quite the team!
The details about the Black Panther project are very scarce at the moment but the team did emphasize that they will do everything to make the game enable players to feel what it's like to be Black Panther. It's a story-driven project and it does seem that the game will go for an action-adventure genre, which will probably make fans happy as the superhero/co-op RPG trend which has come to light lately with projects like Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad isn't quite popular.
Cliffhanger Games' Black Panther project is currently early in development so it will take a couple of years before we get to see it and even longer to play this superhero adventure so certainly don't expect it anytime soon.
Sometime last year, we got the first rumours that EA are working on a Black Panther game. Back then, reliable Jeff Grubb said the game is an open-world action adventure where the player becomes the new Black Panther.
Obviously, it remains to be seen how this one pans out but we are hopeful that the team behind the project will deliver as they have quite the portfolio and the financial support from EA.
This is not the first Marvel project for EA, who also announced recently that they are working on a brand new Iron-Man game, which is developed by the Star Wars: Squadrons team EA Motive.
