Larian Studios announced that there will be no pre-loads for Baldur's Gate 3, which will be worrisome to many fans as the game is going to require a 122 GB download.
There are good and bad sides to this equation as the players won't be able to get in on the fun immediately but then again, they wouldn't be able to even if pre-loads were a thing.
Namely, Steam would still require a file validation at launch, which can be longer than downloading the files anew.
With that in mind, the wait will be lower for the people with somewhat fast internet speed but if you hoped to start at 5:00 PM CEST on August 3, 2023, that will not be the case.
Considering the download size, we recommend leaving it in the background and actually doing something else entirely because it will take a good few hours before you get to launch the game.
For those who had early access, it will be the same as they will need to download the full version and then proceed to play from scratch, just like the rest of the players who didn't dip their toe in just yet.
