In their Q3 earnings report, Korean publisher Pearl Abyss said they expect to complete the development of Crimson Desert in the latter part of the next year.
When asked whether they will be able to release Crimson Desert by the latter half of next year or whether the release could go even beyond that, Pearl Abyss responded that even though they are pretty confident in the game, they can see "market uncertainties" which make it hard to predict when the game could launch.
"We expect to complete the development of the game in the latter part of the next year," said Pearl Abyss CEO Huh Jin-Young. "However for the exact release date, we do need to consult the market situation and our partners, so as soon as it's set, we will let you know."
Pearl Abyss also said that Crimson Desert has almost reached the high-quality level they want to achieve before revealing more footage and that their partners' feedback was quite positive which increased their confidence in the project. They also mentioned that they are trying to meet the high expectations of console players worldwide.
As for the new trailers and information, Pearl Abyss say they are considering the possibility of having a short in-game trailer at a global event at the end of the year, hinting at another appearance at The Game Awards.
However, they did add that a new trailer reveal by the end of the year could be difficult to pull off so don't get your hopes up too much.
Crimson Desert was initially scheduled to release in late 2021 but Pearl Abyss delayed the game indefinitely in the Summer of 2021.
Judging by the trailers, it's a massive project that surely needs a lot of polish and QA so it's not surprising that the devs need more time to get to the finish line.
Hopefully, all goes well for the team so we finally get to play this exciting fantasy title next year.
