A stone monarch on a throne, a courtyard full of sword-raised soldiers, and a very simple rule: don't get caught moving. The Drakesfall Gorge ruins puzzle is essentially a game of grandmother's footsteps with worse consequences.

Tucked away in the Hernandian Territory, the Drakesfall Gorge ruins are home to one of Crimson Desert's more unusual puzzles. There's no rotating disc, no missing parts, and no skill tree requirement. Just a statue that's watching you, without a single clue about what to do here. The reward is an Abyss Cresset fast travel point along with an upgrade artefact.

Find the ruins and read the scene

The ruins sit within Drakesfall Gorge in the Hernandian Territory. When you arrive, you'll find a crumbling stone courtyard containing a large throne at the far end, occupied by a robed monarch statue gripping a sword. Flanking the courtyard on both sides are rows of stone soldier statues, each with a sword lowered at rest. The whole arrangement faces a stone pressure plate on the ground at the near end of the courtyard, opposite the throne.

Trigger the sequence

Step onto the stone plate. The moment you do, the soldier statues on both sides will raise their swords in unison, and the monarch statue will rotate on the throne to face you. The puzzle has begun. Your objective is to cross the courtyard and reach the throne without being caught moving.

You can crouch and sneak around or move while standing; it won't make a difference. The only difference is that if you're in the crouching position, you'll stop more easily. If you keep getting noticed by the monarch's gaze, crouch; it is easier this way.

Sneak towards the throne

Begin moving towards the throne slowly and carefully. The monarch's head will periodically rotate as it scans the courtyard. The moment you hear the sound of the head turning, stop completely and hold still. Any movement while the monarch is looking in your direction will reset the entire sequence and send you back to the pressure plate.

The key is to treat the audio as your primary cue rather than relying solely on visual feedback. The rotation sound gives you a brief window to react before the statue's gaze reaches you, so the moment you hear it, freeze. When the head turns away, and the sound of rotation stops, you can move again. Take your time. There's no timer, and cautious progress is far less frustrating than repeated resets.

Reach the throne and claim the Abyss Cresset

Once you make it to the throne, the monarch statue will rotate one final time, and the puzzle will resolve. The Abyss Cresset will become available to interact with directly at the throne. Pick up the artefact to register it as a fast travel point on your map.
