Rumours of an imminent God of War 5 reveal alongside a new Sony event started circling recently but Cory Barlog doesn't seem to agree with them as he denied them publicly.
God of War 5 was allegedly meant to be shown at an upcoming State of Play event but it was only one portion of the big news that were supposed to happen. The game was allegedly heavy on photorealism and would be revealed alongside a revival of a former PlayStation mainstay.
Normally, both of these rumours were enough to spread quickly due to the hype alone but they also originated with a source which correctly stated that Xbox Games Show would feature a Fable title , one that would be a reboot of the series. With the added credibility, the rumours about God of War 5 showing started to go rampant.
However, some would disagree. One of them happens to be the head honcho of all things God of War, Cory Barlog. In a tweet simply stating "Looking at some of the news over the last 24 hours" he posted a GIF of a Decepticon meme that pretty much serves to deny something in an amusing fashion.
You can check out Barlog's tweet below.
There are two possibilities from this moment on - either Barlog is genuinely confirming that rumours are false or he's trying to keep it at least a little bit of a secret, despite the cat getting out of the bag.
Whatever the case, Sony is still highly likely to ramp up their marketing before PS5 comes knocking during holidays of 2020 and more exclusive announcements are the first thing that comes to mind.
