Bandai Namco has released a new walkthrough trailer for Code Vein II, whilst confirming a character creator demo will arrive on January 23, 2026, one week before the action RPG's full launch on January 30 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
The walkthrough trailer takes players 100 years into the past to follow Josée, a character haunted by guilt over past mistakes. Her mission centres on cleansing the polluted waters of Sunken City and uncovering the truth behind its crisis. The footage showcases Sunken Pylon, a vast area holding the key to purifying the city.
Combat features seven distinct weapon types, ranging from agile new dual blades to the devastating halberd. The trailer introduces Formae, special skills divided into three categories: weapon, defensive, and bequeathed. Each Forma ability consumes Ichor, a vital resource gained through the Drain attack mechanic that fuels powerful abilities.
The partner system allows players to seamlessly switch between summoning companions to fight alongside them or assimilating their combat prowess directly. Partners can revive fallen Hunters through Restorative Offering, recovering health but leaving them temporarily incapacitated on cooldown and unable to assist in battle.
The character creator demo launching January 23 lets players design their Revenant Hunter with full customisation options. Created characters transfer to the full game at launch, allowing players to jump straight into the action with their personalised protagonist. The demo also provides access to MagMell Institute for exploration, Photo Mode for capturing custom poses, and a Hot Spring area for relaxation.
Code Vein II is set to continue the franchise's anime-inspired post-apocalyptic vampire action RPG formula. The original Code Vein launched in 2019, offering challenging soulslike combat with character customisation and companion systems. The sequel aims to expand on these foundations with refined mechanics and new combat options and it will certainly remain to be seen if it manages to do that.
