The Blood of Dawnwalker has hit another major pre-release milestone. Rebel Wolves today confirmed that its first-ever action RPG has gone gold, which means development is finished and the game is ready for physical production and digital release.
The news comes less than two months before The Blood of Dawnwalker releases, allowing the developer to prioritise launch preparations and day-one patches over full-scale development. It also pretty much rules out another delay.
Rebel Wolves fans have been waiting years for the studio’s debut game to launch, so there’s now less than two months left to examine the world of The Blood of Dawnwalker ahead of release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S September 3, 2026.
Gold is a term used to describe when a release-ready version of a game is finalized and sent to manufacturers for production. At this stage, development is considered complete and the team works towards polishing the game with launch-day patches and post-launch support.
Gold is a notable milestone for any game, but it’s especially huge for Rebel Wolves since Dawnwalker will be the studio’s first-ever release. The company was founded by ex-members of CD Projekt RED, and has been working on The Blood of Dawnwalker for years.
Rebel Wolves also announced earlier this month that The Blood of Dawnwalker crossed 2 million wishlist marks across all platforms, showcasing interest for the RPG from players leading up to release.
In The Blood of Dawnwalker, players will dive into a dark medieval fantasy setting filled with exploration, action-oriented combat, and decisions you’ll have to make that impact the game world. You play as Coen, a character that exists between humanity and vampirism, whose choices should impact both the story and world around you.
