In anticipation for the upcoming launch of Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, CD Project Red rolled out a trailer showing off more gameplay and what awaits players once this isometric take on the Witcherworld launches on 23 October 2018.
You'll be playing as Meve, war-hardened queen of Lyria and Rivia, whose realm is under attack by the empire of Nilfgaard. The attack sets Meve on a warpath across the world of Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, "from the misty swamps of Angren to Mahakam's mountain peaks".
Around the 1:10 mark you can catch a glimpse of the command centre called the War Camp, which will be Meve's headquarters throughout the game. It is used to recruit troops as well as boost their stats and specialise them for extra performance under specific scenarios.
As Nilfgaardian spies threaten to hinder Meve's plans, she'll be gathering supplies and resources, recruiting an army as she goes along. There's no shortage of mythical monsters in Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales and CD Project Red reminded that some treasures are worth taking huge beasts head on.
Having begun its life as Gwent's singleplayer campaign, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales features ample card battles as well. All the battles have been handcrafted to strike a balance between being a challenge and providing entertainment, although it's already been revealed that the game's story mode will let you continue with the story even if you lose.
CD Project Red have prepared as much as 20 , or states of the world as they call them, which will be triggered depending on players' in-game choice. Along with that come more than 200 original cards, many of them allowing for the degree of freedom not granted by Gwent. After all, the balance you seek in multiplayer isn't a priority when battling AI, is it?

With five days left until launch, we'd like to compliment CD Project Red once more on their handling of Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales' In case you didn't catch it, they advised people who are unsure of whether to buy the game to wait for reviews instead of pre-ordering, because they won't be dangling any exclusive-gear carrots.
