1C announced that skins in Caliber are no pay to win but they do offer alterations with significant gameplay impact.
To explain it better - you will not do more damage, have more health or a better hitbox due to owning a skin so it is not pay to win. However, skins can help you perform better due to the changed reticles on weapon optics.
One of the best examples is Kurt who doesn't have to bear with iron sights if he takes the telescopic sight off, provided he has the Spartan skin which brings a collimator sight with it.
Additionally, some optic sights are better than others and players couldn't really know whether that is the case until they purchased the skin for themselves or had someone else check it on their account.
This will not be an issue anymore when the upcoming operator testing changes kick in as players will also be able to choose the skin they are testing the operator with.
In other words - seeing the reticles with different skins will be just one shooting range visit away. That is not the only improvement coming to the operator testing since you will be able to get in there right from the operator screen - just click the operator on the roster and you will be able to click a new button that sends you to the range with them.
Therefore, the Practice Mode will become more accessible than ever while also allowing people to check what skins bring to the table before committing premium currency for them.
