Borderlands 3 is one of the most anticipated games in 2019 and Gearbox are just around the corner with a gameplay reveal. It appears that a fraction of the gameplay footage was leaked early, but it's unknown if the leak was intentional.
Leaks ahead of big releases seem to be happening on a regular basis now, with Apex Legends showing the full potential of this kind of marketing since no one even knew the game was in the works until it got "leaked" mere days before release and a pile of big name streamers just so for a few days after launch.
While there is no conclusive evidence Gearbox are following the example, it is ridiculously convenient that a just happened to leak hours before the official gameplay reveal.
Even more convenient is that the footage only shows Amara about to loot a gun and Claptrap pops up on the comms, explaining that viewers can earn in-game loot by watching live streams.
One could argue that such a marketing strategy would be too obvious but keep in mind that Gearbox is a company whose CEO .
Now, we are not saying that the leak is 100 per cent intentional and used for marketing purposes, we are just pointing out that such a trend is on the rise and the circumstances make the Borderlands 3 gameplay footage "leak" rather suspicious.
Borderlands series fans may not have had much to go on with the 26 seconds of the gameplay footage linked above, but other than Claptrap confirming live stream rewards, the footage showed some fairly obvious changes.
The loot UI now shows gear score and some weapon values like Accuracy are now shown in percentages for better clarity.

Manipulating and Accreting Multiplex snipers that were looted by Amara highlighted that Maliwan weapons can now switch between different elements and the optics on the SMG she is wielding suggest that the weapon can switch between iron sights and zoomed ones on the go.
