Dual Reality system is one of the biggest highlights of Bloober Team's upcoming horror title The Medium. In the latest video, the devs explained how exactly this feature works.
"The first thing that you need to know is that as a Medium, you have a gift or a curse to exist in two places at once," Bloober Team's Michal Napora starts explaining the Dual Reality system. Players will spend around two thirds of their time in The Medium in one reality, be it our physical world or spiritual reality.
In certain moments though, you will experience both worlds at the same time, simultaneously on the screen, as you can see it in the image above. In these situations, the player can solve puzzles in one world that will affect the other one. For example, you can flip the switch in the spiritual world, which will turn on the lights in the physical world. This is just the simplest of examples of how the Dual Reality system works.
It's safe to say that such a gameplay mechanic certainly opens up a lot of interesting ways to set up all sorts of puzzles and challenges for players. The devs say that it's possible to build such worlds thanks to the power of next-gen consoles and especially the speed of the SSD. You can check out the video above for more details.
The Medium is officially hitting the shelves on December 10, 2020, for PC, Xbox Series X and Series S.
