Gwent has been performing well ever since its Early Access launch, maybe in part because it's the spin-off for CD Projekt Red's critically acclaimed Witcher 3: Wyld Hunt. Now it is going to be expanded with Arena Mode.

Gwent has a great combo going for it, consisting of three key elements: it's in the Witcher universe, it is free to play and CD Projekt Red with loot box greed. The game's community is dedicated which reflects well in the long run player base numbers and its rules are somewhat different than in the other popular card games on the market, namely Magic: The Gathering and Hearthstone.

It was very popular even as a minigame in Witcher 3 and making it standalone became inevitable. With everything going well for it, why not expand it? CD Projekt Red apparently have that in mind. The video above shows streamers and commenters asking for different game modes including arena mode, but the last in the line of suggestions was ''I wish CD Projekt Red would say something like yeah we're working on a draft mode, it will be out probably like...February''.

If that didn't sound ominous, then Geralt isn't a silver haired womanizer. It was really heavily implied but in the end it was Arena Mode that was announced on  Arena entry cost will be 150 Ore , or ~£1,43.

Release date was not confirmed on stream but whenever the new game mode does come out, it will refresh their game's cult following.
