Respawn Entertainment are looking to shake things up in Apex Legends and thanks to data mining we got a glimpse at what the devs are cooking up. It appears to be a mode based on King of the Hill concept, with Legends battling for a train.
Respawn already experimented with fresh ways to play Apex Legends such as solo and duo queues but they are not slowing the work down on EA's current top dog of first-person shooters.
According to code uncovered by data miner That1MiningGuy, Apex could have a rather nice surprise in store for the fans. Namely, it's a King of the Hill game mode which will most likely not be called that but will have the same format.
The uncovered code revealed announcer voice lines and objectives that the players will have. A train of some sort will be the objective everyone will converge on and players will apparently be able to choose their spawn points.
Upon reaching the train, the squads will attempt to capture the zone and control it by not letting the others overtake them. Holding the train will rack up points and presumably win the game upon reaching a certain threshold but there is also a mention of a timer so the team with the most points will win once it runs out.
The video about the goodies found through data mining is over 23 minutes long but the part that references the new mode starts at 18:48.
Among the other leaks via data mining, there is a mention of a Black Friday sale so keep an eye out if you are looking to get your Legends some new accessories.
