Someone managed to phish their way into Activision and managed to find out that the grass is green.

Activision apparently got broken into back in December 2022, meaning three months have passed until the incident became known to the public and even then it wasn't through official sources.

The incident involved an employee with high-level access getting phished, which basically means they got messaged by a third party claiming they were there in an official capacity, asking for sensitive access info.

Upon gaining the employee's credentials, the threat actor proceeded to take a joyride through the company's Slack and documents that contained future plans for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 .

The irony is that the break-in was somewhat high profile but the subsequent leak didn't manage to reveal any information that was groundbreaking.

Instead, it is just a clump containing broad details about future seasons. For example, it states how many operators each season will bring along with one new battle pass, one event and so on.

Call of Duty Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is still in top three on UK boxed charts Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is still selling like hotcakes

One detail that may be of interest to the players is that there will be a bunch of new maps for 6v6, which may no be well-received by the community.

Other than that, it is all info even a random passerby could have guessed if you asked them about CoD: MW2 future in the street.

There is no indication that user data was at risk during the break-in.
