It's only been few days since the last update to A Total War Saga: Troy and just as we wondered when Amazons DLC was launching - Creative Assembly obliged with a bang.
"Harness the power of the famed Amazons in the first DLC from A Total War Saga: TROY. Take on the role of fierce warrior queen Penthesilea, or her shrewd and swift-footed sister Hippolyta, and fight to protect your homeland from the conquering Archeans", the description reads, setting the launch date for September 24, 2020.
If you're not big on the Greek mythology, you'll probably still recognise Hippolyta from her depiction in Wonder Woman. Marvel, of course, strayed from the legends, but they got the gist of it right - she was one fierce lady whose father was this god of war guy. No, not Kratos, we're talking about Ares.
Hippolyta is not the only addition to A Total War Saga: Troy, as Amazons DLC adds two factions - Hyppolyta's Amazons and those of her sister, Penthesilea. The latter actually fought on the side of Troy, where she fell by Achilles' hand.
Amazons DLC brings fresh new unit rosters, all of them female naturally, which mostly focus on cavalry units, which will be a welcome change from the infantry-focused style of the base edition of A Total War Saga: Troy.
There are also new faction mechanics, like Amazon Kingdom, Blood Oath and Rites of Initiation, as well as new Epic Missions chains.
Sega
Amazons DLC adds new heroes, building, events, Royal Decrees and other faction content, along with the introduction of a horde faction in Penthesilea's Amazons. The fact she leads a horde faction led to Creative Assembly adding a new horde mechanic called War Spoils too.
