Lords of the Fallen, the most recent RPG from CI Games, follows the precedent set by other Souls-like games by making side quests entirely optional, free of quest markers, and entrusting players to uncover them independently through exploration.
In Lords of the Fallen's central hub area, Skyrest, you may come across the Tortured Prisoner, an NPC located behind the locked door leading to the Skyrest Bridge. If you're unsure about how to access this door, our guide provides the solution.
When you attempt to talk to him, you'll encounter only unintelligible mumbling. If you're curious about how to engage with him and reveal the mystery hidden behind this character, our guide holds the solution.
Who is the tortured prisoner, and how do you engage with him?
As previously mentioned, talking to this NPC will lead you nowhere. Instead, continue your exploration of Skyrest, and you'll soon find the answer you seek.
Step into the Umbral realm and descend the spiral staircase located near the prisoner. In the lower region, you'll come across a bridge with statues holding lamps. On the bridge's right side, there's a ladder, and atop it, you'll find an entrance guarded by the Umbral Entity. To open the door, you need to activate three roots: one is positioned above the stairs you recently ascended; the second one is located right beside the entity; and the third one is located beneath the bridge, accessible when you manipulate the Umbral platform.
Retrieve the item from the Umbral statue and add it to your inventory; it's the Searing Accusation fire catalyst, an essential item for this quest. After obtaining this item, head back to the tortured prisoner and initiate a conversation with him. During the dialogue, you will be given the option to give him "Searing Accusation." Do that, and he will change the way he mumbles.
Return to Axiom and once again return to the prisoner, and this time, the door on his cell will be busted, and instead of him, you'll find an item lying on the ground. The item is Tortured Prisoner's Head Cage that serves as a head gear you can wear.
Sometime later in the game, when you exit Skyrest through Pieta's arena, you will meet Tortured Prisoner again, and after speaking to her, she will give you back the "Searing Accusation" catalyst, and this side quest will be concluded.
