The Salvage Yard Business is a part of the Chop Shop update on GTA Online. This lucrative business involves acquiring high-demand cars while staying under the radar of authorities.

The Salvage Yard missions on GTA Online by Rockstar can be categorized into two main types: Robberies and The Tow Truck Service. Your business will be under the name of Red's Auto Parts.

To begin with, you as the player will receive a call from Yusuf Amir after buying a Salvage Yard from Maze Bank Foreclosures. This allows you to cut in on Yusuf and Jamal's plan for robberies which can be accessed from the Salvage Yard's Planning Wall.

These missions feature a unique target (mostly expensive/fast cars) and require prior planning and prep work like most heists in Grand Theft Auto.

The Salvage Yard Business Explained

Choosing A Salvage Yard:

This is the first and arguably the most important decision you'll need to make when starting any business in GTA Online. The location of your business will have a significant impact on the heists you'll be performing later down the line.

Ideally, you would want to get the property closest to the city. Why? because the further away from the city you go the more distance you'll need to cover during your heists. + The tow truck service is very slow, so having the business too far away will not only make things risky but also time-consuming.

Our recommendation:

If you have the money then we suggest buying the Salvage Yard on La Puerta because it is closest to the city. However, it will set you back by $2,690,000.

But if you are low on cash and don't mind the extra miles then you can grab the Salvage Yard at Paleto Bay for $1,620,000 saving yourself 1mil.

Upgrading the Salvage Yard:

There are many upgrades available for the Salvage Yard Business but we are going to discuss only the essentials meaning we are not going to discuss aesthetic upgrades.

Our recommendations:

  • Tow Truck: This allows you to start the Tow Truck Service. There are two options available if you are low on money you can buy the Tow Truck Beater for $650,000 but if you are willing to spend a bit more (nearly double) money then you can grab the Tow Truck for $1,100,000.

  • Staff: Hiring staff means more workers. This translates to more productivity

You can pick up other upgrades for your Salvage Yard.  Except for visual and decorative updates, you should select the  Get Trade Rates upgrade because it allows you to get discounts on Mars Matual and LS Customs.

Salvage Yard Robberies:

Evident from the name, it is a series of illegal jobs and it has 3 parts to it. 2 free mode preparations and the finale.  After completing any robbery, you'll be presented with  3 options:

1) Ship the car to Yusuf

2) Salvage for car parts

3) Keep the car for yourselves (This option is currently unavailable)

Tow Truck Services:

This is both an active and passive income business. You as the player can tow "abandoned" cars or salvage them for parts. The more Tow Truck missions you complete the more popular your salvage yard becomes. You can earn a maximum of $24,000 per day.

The Salvage Yard business was a nice refreshing addition to GTA Online as the game desperately needed something new and exciting.  Since you have the option of running it both actively and passively, it makes this a business worth running and grinding.

So if you love cars, and love stealing things (strictly in games and not IRL) then you'll surely enjoy running this business!
