Lae'zel is the first friendly character you encounter in Baldur's Gate 3, during the prologue on the nautiloid.
When it crashes, she can be found in two different places, depending on when you get around to finding her.
Lae'zel's first location
Initially, you can recruit Lae'zel within minutes of recruiting Gale. Go the same way you would go to recruit the Wizard and then proceed slightly further north.
When you get there, you will find the Githyanki fighter in a cage, trapped by two Tieflings. Initiate dialogue with the trapped Gith and you will be presented with several options - release her forcibly, persuade the Tieflings or deceive them.
The first two options will result in a fight to the death with them while deception is the best course of action since they will leave the area immediately. If you chose this option and succeeded, just use any ranged weapon or spell to damage the cage in order to free Lae'zel. She will immediately be interested in joining up.
Lae'zel's second location
If you took two long rests before finding Lae'zel and then visit the area, you will just find a broken cage and two dead Tieflings. It will take much longer and much more effort to recruit the fighter this way.
When you finally get close, you can observe her meeting with some Githyanki for what is less than a friendly reunion. The scene is a bit hard to miss.
When you get down there, you will have to deal with the Githyanki. The guy who rode in on the dragon is an ass and so are the rest of them, meaning you will most likely have to fight the group. Lae'zel is not much help here since she is level one and will probably get one-shotted.
The enemies are extremely tough so we would suggest save scumming through the ability checks in the dialogue in order to persuade the dragon rider to go away along with his cronies.
Whichever route you choose, it will be an arduous journey so our best advice would still be to recruit Lae'zel early on. Two Tieflings are much less of a hassle to deal with.
