Boost mode

One of the most underrated features of PlayStation 4 Pro is the so called boost mode. We've made a list of games that have seen an increase in performance thanks to this mode and narrowed it down to some of the most prominent titles.

Arguably one of the best features of the PS4 Pro is the boost mode - a feature that allows certain titles to run better on the console. Today, we're bringing you a list of games that benefit from this nifty mode as we take a look at the game's FPS and some other things that the boost mode brings to the table.

It's important to note that this mode affects the game's FPS and loading times only, as opposed to an actual PS4 Pro patch which offers visual enhancements as well. But not all games can benefit from this feature, so here are some of the more prominent titles that see an increase in performance with the boost mode turned on.

  • Battlefield 4: the boost mode allows textures to load faster and the game has steady 60FPS in multiplayer.
  • Bioshock Infinite: with the boost mode on, the game has a locked framerate of 60FPS, as opposed to a varying number with the boost mode turned off.
  • Bloodborne: the boost mode locks the game's FPS to 30, ensuring a steady performance.
  • Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin: with the boost mode on, the game has a locked framerate of 60FPS.
  • Final Fantasy XIV Online: the game sees a jump of around 20FPS with the boost mode turned on.
  • GTA V: with the boost mode turned on, this open world giant sticks closer to the 30FPS cap.
  • Just Cause 3: the boost mode locks the game's FPS to 30.
  • Mad Max: the boost mode locks this month's PS Plus freebie's FPS to 30.
  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain: with the boost mode on, the game's FPS is locked to 60.
  • Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4: this fast-paced ninja fighter's FPS is locked to 30 with the boost mode turned on.
  • Warframe: the game's framerate sticks closer to the 60FPS cap with the boost mode turned on.
  • Until Dawn: the game receives an additional 10FPS in certain areas with the boost mode on.
  • God of War III Remastered: those who want to remember how brutal Kratos is, right before the new game comes out, can enjoy his gory adventures in God of War III Remastered with steady 60FPS, thanks to the boost mode.

Even though these are all older titles, most of these games still have rather solid player bases and communities, so why not enjoy them even more with higher FPS? It's a very handy feature indeed, and we strongly recommend you enable it on your PS4 Pro.
