God of War: Ragnarok is finally here and just like its 2018 predecessor, it features a very complex combat system with various combos and skills to help you take down everything in your path.
If you're just starting with the latest PlayStation exclusive, it's probably overwhelming to look at all those skills and think were to invest your XP but thanks to JoRaptor, we may have an idea of which early game skills are the best.
So, without further ado, here are the best early-game skills in God of War Ragnarok.

Axe Skills
Frozen Breach
A pretty straightforward skill that can be activated after you buff the Leviathan Axe with Frost Awaken. Pressing R1 during Frost Awaken creates a wide swing and applies Frost to all enemies.
Frozen Spike
Another useful skill that you can use after buffing the axe with Frost Awaken. It allows you to throw the axe with R1 and create a frost explosion on impact.
Frozen Lance
This one requires Axe Upgrade 3. It's a heavy throw that deals a lot of damage, breaks guard and knocks the enemy backwards. You hold R2 during Frost Awaken to throw the axe.
Frozen Ascent
This one is unlocked shortly after one hour of gameplay. You can use R2 to send enemies flying and apply high Frost.
Blades Skills
Vaporise Frost
This skill is a must as it brings a large damage bonus when combined with the Leviathan Axe. Simply attack enemies with the axe until they are Frozen and then switch to your blades and attack to deal additional damage.
It also works the other way around with the Extinguish Flames skill which raises damage against targets on Fire.
Scorched Sweep 1
Just like with the axe, you can unleash certain skills when you power up your Blades. One of the better early-game skills in Ragnarok is Scorched Sweep which slashes enemies and applies Burn.
Scorched Earth 1
This skill will spike the Blade down and create a heavy explosion that causes Burn.
For final thoughts, it's worth noting that you can upgrade your skills and even earn medals for using skills. Unlocking the gold medal will allow you to mod your weapons and insert all sorts of tokens that will offer different benefits.
