Activision and Beenox are preparing a hefty update to Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled for 03 July 2019, and it promises to fix the save data corruption issue on PlayStation 4, add the first Grand Prix with Online Leaderboards, and more.
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled's Xbox One and Switch players have nothing to worry about, but save data files could go corrupt for PS4 players who played a bunch of Time Trial races, due to the file becoming too large.
"We've been working to properly fix the issue and it will be addressed in this patch. In the meantime, we recommend that PS4 players avoid playing Time Trials as a preventative measure", Beenox wrote.
If you want to stay extra safe, make sure you back up your data to external storage or backup save data.
As a thank you for their patience, Beenox are rewarding all Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled players who go online this weekend with a 2,500 Wumpa Coin gift. The bonus lasts until 04 July 2019.
The Nitro Tour Grand Prix is going live, allowing players to earn Nitro Points and complete challenges to unlock a ton of customisation content.
"Twilight Tour will be a brand-new track available to Local Arcade and Online modes. The character Tawna will able to be earned through completing Grand Prix challenges and earning Nitro Points", they wrote.
Note that Tawna and other cosmetics will be limited time items, although they may come back to the Pit Stop at a later date.
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is also getting a few leaderboards, like the Nitro Point Online leaderboard for challenges and the Championship Leaderboard, where you earn points on online multiplayer.
"You're given a number of points each time you complete a race in online multiplayer. You receive more points the higher your placement is when each race is over (first is the most, and eighth place is the least). The Leaderboard is unlocked after you finish your first online race", Beenox said.
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled's upcoming update will tweak Wumpa Coin earn rates, add online podium animations and a ton of new cosmetics.
