NetherRealm Studios have delivered the update with 60 FPS support for Mortal Kombat 11 along with some other quality of life changes. They still didn't eliminate the need for Endri Lauson's original 60 FPS mod for the game though.
Mortal Kombat 11 always supported 60 FPS during gameplay but more cinematic sequences such as fatal blows, fatalities, cutscenes and even the Krypt have all been locked behind 30 frames per second, regardless of the platform.
A while after release, one modder came up with a file that unlocked the frame rate cap, allowing PC players to have 60 FPS in all of those instances. It was quickly muted for some reason but now it is quite obvious NetherRealm and Warner Bros. were well aware of Lauson's mod.
The developers have recently released a patch that automatically removes the frame rate cap in menus and cinematic moments but players will have to manually opt-in for the cap removal in the Krypt. This minigame has issues with optimisation which is something Lauson pointed out when he released his mod.
If players choose to turn the 60 FPS option on for the Krypt, they might still not get the desired frames and the patch notes on Steam highlight that as well. However, this update did not remove the need for Lauson's mod entirely - it still provides support for ultrawide displays with 21:9 ratio or higher.
The patch notes supposedly fixed crashes in Towers of Time and Krypt as well but some players are reporting those issues in the comment section of the aforementioned update. On the other hand, crashes do seem to be fixed for a portion of the player base who had crashed on launch.
There is mention of some other, smaller fixes such as a visual glitch with Frost's Whirring Drill move when TAA was enabled. One more interesting note was that NetherRealm initially said there were balance changes but later corrected themselves, saying there were none.
