Creative director of Mortal Kombat games, Ed Boon has officially confirmed on his Twitter profile that an announcement for the rest of the game's DLC characters roster could be revealed sometime next week if everything goes as planned.

NetherRealm's brutal fighter Mortal Kombat 11 is enjoying a successful release after positive reviews from both critics and players. Its commercial success is also the biggest in the franchise's history according to the publisher Warner Bros. who shared the sales data a few weeks back.

Of course, the devs and the publisher will look to build on this success and release additional content over the current year in terms of new characters, potentially new fighting arenas and probably some cosmetic items.

Today, Ed Boon, the creative director of Mortal Kombat 11 confirmed via his Twitter profile that the rest of the game's DLC characters could be announced sometime next week. "Fingers Krossed.... if all goes well, next week we will be announcing the fighters that will be joining Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat 11’s DLC," Boon tweeted.

Unfortunately, Boon did not mention any of these characters and we'll have to wait a couple of more days before the official announcement drops. However, from some earlier leaks and rumours, we know that Mortal Kombat 11 could add Spawn and Ash from The Evil Dead.

Also, leaks suggest that a total number of Mortal Kombat 11's characters could be 13. Data miners found thirteen slots for DLC characters in the game's files, which could turn out to be true but just like any other leak, rumour or unconfirmed information, you should take these with a huge grain of salt.

All in all, it won't be long before NetherRealm officially announces the new DLC characters, and whether the devs and Warner Bros. surprise us with Scooby Doo goofball Shaggy, who was heavily requested by players, remains to be seen.
