According to the latest datamine by Reddit user thethiny, the number of Mortal Kombat 11 DLC characters could reach 19, not 9 as previously speculated. Redditor found the proof of this using the Cheat Engine of the current PC version.
NetherRealm Studio's brutal fighter has finally arrived this week and it's safe to say that the game is hitting the headlines for all sorts of reasons. Some of them are about annoying grind and progression system while others are about the game's good side and future, post-launch content.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president David Haddad confirmed earlier this week that Mortal Kombat 11 has had the biggest launch in the franchise's long and rich history. Haddad also said that NetherRealm and Warner Bros. will add more content to the game for years to come.
Some of this content includes new fighters, and according to some earlier leaks, Mortal Kombat 11 would have nine of them. However, the latest datamine shows a significantly higher number. Redditor thethiny claims that Mortal Kombat 11 will have 19 DLC characters and he even uploaded a screenshot taken from Cheat Engine of the current PC version.
"In MK11, browsing memory shows us Story Unlockable 0, DLC 0 CHAR_ShaoKahn, DLC1, DLC2 all the way until DLC19. Just open Cheat Engine while the game is running and search for the string DLC1, and you'll find it right after ShaoKahn," thethiny explained in his post.
If his explanation sounds a bit confusing, he's basically saying that Cheat Engine shows us strings for Frost, which is the character you can unlock through the story, Shao Khan, a pre-order bonus, and slots for additional 19 DLCs.
Of course, the datamined files do not include the names or anything to suggest who these characters might be. However, it does look pretty legit and since we already know that Mortal Kombat 11 will get new content for years to come, it wouldn't be surprising if the total number of DLCs is indeed 19.
