It isn't every day that a fast food brand takes a shot at developers, but that's just what happened when KFC posted the do-something meme, suggesting that Respawn do something with Apex Legends. And Respawn did something - they responded.
Now, the meme was posted on the KFC Gaming Twitter, but the fans didn't care much and the post soon experienced the fury of Apex Legends' Twitter fans.
They kept spamming "Silence, Brand" until it accounted for 99% of responses, so there was barely any need for Respawn's response.
Nevertheless, respond they did via the Twitter account of Rayme Vinson, one of Respawn's devs working on Apex Legends, and it was so well weighed that we think Vinson could have a future in PR if he wanted.
"Dearest brand. We've got tons of stuff coming, but it takes a little time. We can't hyper-fry or flash-flambe or crunch-inject or whatever it is you do to your tasty fried birdflesh. This gameplay is hand-crafted using old-world techniques. Eat some chicken, we'll see you soon", he wrote.
We're sure that there will be plenty of Apex Legends fans who'll immediately jump to "destroyed" or "owned" tags, but we thought the response has just enough humour and respect while conveying all the necessary info. A respectful 'back off', if you will.
It's obvious that KFC Gaming isn't exactly following Respawn closely, because the dev recently posted a lengthy update on why their development schedule will remain as is, seeing as how they don't want to overwork the Apex Legends team.
Respawn's CEO Vince Zampella said at the time, "There are a lot of people that are like 'hey where's the weekly updates, Fortnite does this.' And it's like, we're not set up to do that. We never intended to."
Zampella also said that Season 2 of Apex Legends Battle Pass will fix many of the concerns of players disgruntled with its maiden season.
