Not to be outdone by the likes of Fortnite, Respawn announced their own collaboration with comics powerhouse Dark Horse on Apex Legends' own comic book miniseries.
To be fair, though, Apex Legends has had a ton of comics made already, and while most of them were done by the community, some have been as impressive as anything you'd find in regular comics.
As for the new one, it's made by Dark Horse, but the writing team behind the comic is Apex Legends' own, or should we say Titanfall's own. More on that in a minute.
In the official description, Dark Horse wrote, "In the comic series, the Legends find themselves pulled together to rescue the city from Mad Scientists, brutal assassins, and the sudden and sinister grip of The Syndicate, a corrupt cabal attempting to “fix” arena outcomes in their favor. Will the Legends hold up to their celebrity status and be the heroes Solace needs?"
Perhaps even more interesting, however, is the tweet by Respawn's Tom Casiello, who confirmed that the comic book is canon in what can only be described as a burst-fire FAQ tweet.
"Yes, we brought back Titanfall's Jesse Stern to script it.
Yes, it's a story by the writing team.
Yes, it will affect the dialogue in the game.
Yes, events will transpire that will affect the Legends' stories.
Yes, we've been busy the last 18 months...", he wrote.
Dark Horse seem to have developed quite the habit of swooping into games for inspiration, with Cyberpunk 2077 Trauma Team International and the latest crossover between Epic's Fortnite and Batman being just some of the latest crossovers to mention.
