Playdead co-founder Dino Patti is assembling a new independent studio based in the UK and has just teased the new venture's first project called Somerville. The new studio is called Jumpship and is currently hiring.

Dynasty Warriors 9 - action footage

Koei Tecmo released a minute-long video of their upcoming Dynasty Warriors 9. The game will feature an open world full of battlefields and cities. No release date has been given, but we do know that Dynasty Warriors 9 will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive.

Diablo 3: Rise of the Necromancer DLC

Rise of the Necromancer DLC for Diablo 3 is rolling out next week. The DLC will bring an updated Necromancer character class from Diablo 2. The DLC will be accompanied by a free update which will add two new zones to the game.

Will Shadow of Mordor saves transfer to Shadow of War?

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor was last patched in October 2016 for PlayStation 4 Pro purposes and the latest patch is a bit of a mystery, since no official announcement came along with it. Save files transferring to Shadow of War are still a rumour at this point.

Final Fantasy XV: Episode Prompto just got a fresh trailer. The trailer shows some gameplay and snippets of the story. Episode Prompto will be available on 27 June.

God of War - taking on Norse mythology

Sony officially announced that a new God of War game will be coming in early 2018. The game will follow an older version of Kratos, accompanied by his young son as they travel across a snowy landscape inspired by Norse mythology.

Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood

Patch notes for the latest Final Fantasy XIV premium expansion have been published. All players who pre-ordered the game will gain early access to the expansion tomorrow. PlayStation 3 players can upgrade to the PS4 version of the game until 31 December.

Red Dead Redemption 2 confirmed for Spring 2018

Rockstar Games have confirmed Red Dead Redemption 2 will release next Spring. The studio also apologised for pushing the release date further down into 2018, citing the game being designed from the ground up to suit the latest console generation as the reason for the delay.

Metal Gear Survive pushed back

Konami delayed their Metal Gear Survive into 2018. The stealthy survival game is the first Metal Gear title after Hideo Kojima, the creator of the series, left Konami.

Destiny 2 open beta in July

Destiny 2 just got its release dates for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The open beta will start on 21 July, but those who pre-order the game will be able to access it a couple of days early. Frame rates will be capped at 30 fps on the consoles. PC will be the exception to this rule.

Assassin's Creed: Origins - What we know so far

Assassin's Creed: Origins is most officially going to ancient Egypt. A lot of changes seem to be on the horizon - a more RPG-y look and feel in line with recent open world trends, a seemingly greater emphasis on ranged weapons, a bird's eye view, and lots of sand.

Fallout 4 VR is set to launch in October this year. The game will feature "the complete core game with all-new combat, crafting, and building systems fully reimagined for virtual reality". Fallout 4 VR is available for pre-purchase now on Steam.

Kingdom Hearts Orchestra concert in Los Angeles treated us to a new Kingdom Hearts III gameplay trailer. The trailer shows footage based on Disney's Hercules, the game's villains and Sora's new abilities.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War just got a story trailer and it's fine. Revenge, drums, a few new characters and some horrible lip-sync animation; more or less what we have come to expect recently. It looks a lot like a trailer for some Hollywood movie, but this is a story trailer, so that is ok I guess.

It is now safe to say that Origins will be the title of the next Assassin's Creed game. American retailer Target apparently has pre-order bonus cards for the game lying around somewhere and isn't paying too much attention to who might take pictures of one.

Blindflug Studios brought their mobile game success over to PC. Their First Strike: Final Hour is now optimized for PC with a bevy of new options, weapons and strategies. The game is available now on Steam.

Fallout 4 will be free on Steam and Xbox over the coming weekend. The Xbox promotion is reserved for Live Gold members. Interested members and Steam users will have access to the base game as well as be given the opportunity to try out some mods.

Did Watch Dogs 2 fail UbiSoft, or did UbiSoft fail Watch Dogs 2? It has been more than 6 months since Watch Dogs 2 released to less than stellar launch sales figures. UbiSoft were betting on 'long-tail' sales for the game. Currently it doesn't look like those sales are materialising.

GOG.com are giving the first Mount & Blade game away for free, with the rest of the series being heavily discounted. The sale and give-away are coinciding with the Battle of Bucharest Warband tournament and the finals will be streaming on Twitch tonight.
