Answering a question at investors call, Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick has confirmed Rockstar will launch Red Dead Redemption 2 online open beta by the end of the month. Zelnick also declined to go into any detail about monetisation.
According to Take-Two boss, Strauss Zelnick, Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption 2 multiplayer will launch by the end of the month. When asked to compare possible sales of Red Dead online to GTA online, Zelnick answered it's still premature to talk about the game.
"It's way too early to talk about Red Dead Redemption 2 Online, it hasn't released yet," Zelnick said before partly revealing the beta release date."It will launch in public beta towards the end of the month and Rockstar will have a lot more to say about it. We're not making any current predictions," Zelnick confirmed. He also declined to comment on possible monetisation.
Back in September 2018, Rockstar revealed the plans for Red Dead Online with the November 2018 being mentioned as a release date for open beta. Rockstar described the multiplayer as a new experience, combining narrative with competitive gameplay. Since then, information was pretty scarce but we could get something new in the upcoming weeks as we near the predicted release date.

Red Dead Online could have some interesting stuff if previous leaks by RockstarIntel prove to be true. The parameters found in Red Dead Redemption 2 inputs reveal dueling options, races and reporting players to the law. Of course, we don't have any official confirmation if these features will make it to the open beta, but they certainly sound like something Rockstar would probably implement in Red Dead multiplayer.
Last year a leaked document was published by Trusted Reviews saying that Red Dead Online will feature battle royale mode along with competitive modes Revive, Survive and Money Grab. The first two are elimination team deathmatch modes, while the third one is objective based mode as teams battle each other to collect money and deposit them back at their base. No additional info was revealed for potential battle royale mode though.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Online beta will be free for everyone with a copy of the game on either Play Station 4 or Xbox One and while you wait for it you can check our review of Rockstar's gem
