Crackdown 3 will finally release on 15 February 2019, Microsoft have announced at XO18 today. Along with the official release date for the often delayed action adventure, we also got to see a 5v5 multiplayer mode dubbed Wrecking Zone.
Microsoft have officially revealed the release date for the upcoming action adventure Crackdown 3. The game will finally see the light of the day on 15 February 2019, as confirmed at Microsoft's XO18 showcase.
We also got a short gameplay trailer for the multiplayer mode dubbed Wrecking Zone. It's a five vs. five deathmatch set in a dedicated arena with destructible environment.
Crackdown 3 was originally set for a November 2017 release date, but after many showings and loss of key staff, Microsoft delayed the game to the third quarter of 2018 before finally revealing the February 2019 release date.
This will hopefully bring an end to the turbulent development of the game. Microsoft said they had to take their time to improve the game's graphics and ensure the best possible all-round quality.
The multiplayer mode will bring fully destructible arenas, as Microsoft promised back on the initial reveal. The trailer showed two teams in a neon-drenched arena filled with platforms and high skyscrapers with one of them crumbling down in Battlefield 4 Shangai building collapse style.
It will be interesting to see how destroyed objects affect the gameplay and the maps as the rounds progress. It's also been confirmed Crackdown 3 physics will be powered by Microsoft's cloud platform Azure but we see this as a sneaky little way to advertise their own service rather than something new and innovative.
