Eko Software and Bigben have unveiled Konrad Vollen, the playable Imperial Captain in Warhammer: Chaosbane. This character will serve as the frontline tank, crowd control or damage dealer as his kit offers a wide range of options.
According to the official description, which will likely be an entry in Konrad's lore in Warhammer: Chaosbane, he was trained in armed combat from early childhood. This resulted in him being a close combat specialist, but while his attacks are melee, his AoE proficiency offers variety in playstyle.
He can also take up somewhat of a support role by planting banners that can grant bonuses to his group. On top of the bonuses, Konrad will have a taunt that can draw aggro from other, squishier, players.
Konrad's shield allows him to either strike or stun enemies, so it is hinted he can take up the role of a crowd control machine. He is a follower of Sigmar, and offerings to the vengeful god can expand the Imperial Captain's roster of available passive and active skills. These should increase the potency of his combat abilities like the fire aura.
Considering that Warhammer: Chaosbane has a mechanic called Bloodlust meter, it also means that each of the four playable characters have access to unique powerful skills. In order to use them, players will need to play wrecking ball and go around murdering all those poor hordes of Chaos.
In Konrad's case, Bloodlust will allow him to swing a massive warhammer and decimate anything in his vicinity. Level two Bloodlust will allow him to summon a massive shield which he can use to dispose of enemies in his path as he charges through them. Level three Bloodlust will give Konrad access to a powerful ground stomp that will wreck any enemies around him.

Warhammer: Chaosbane takes heavy inspiration from Diablo series, but it remains to be seen if it will be executed well or if it will reach similar popularity. At least we know the developers are not taking every note out of Blizzard's playbook as they are not going for the mobile market with their game.
