Palworld is a game that initially looks similar to Pokemon as people interact with friendly creatures in a vibrant world.
After all, this worked for Temtem so why not give it another shot? Or maybe 3,000 shots per second, if that minigun is anything like the real-world weapon.
This game's announcement came as a bit of a surprise during Summer Game Fest 2023 and it doesn't appear to be too far away from release.
Currently, it is scheduled to enter Early Access in January 2024.
Unlike the aforementioned adventures in other video games, this one is about survival. Players will get challenged by dangers of food shortages, harsh weather and illegal poachers, hence the guns.
The colourful creatures are named Pals and it appears the game will take a dark turn in interaction with them. Palworld's Steam store page notes we can either live a slow life with Pals or throw ourselves into life-and-death battles with poachers.
We can also force Pals to fight, breed, help with farming or work in factories, which sounds awfully lot like slavery. Then again, the inspiration does come from Pokemon.
Perhaps the darkest side of Palworld is that you can slaughter the creatures and eat them, although that is forbidden by law. Since this is a survival game, we have to hazard a guess players will sometimes have no other choice but to take down the creatures they befriended.
